Tax, Financial & Consumer Issues

Taxes

The New Jersey Legislature passed a bill to extend the April 15 personal income tax corporate business tax filing and payment deadlines to July 15, 2020. See a comprehensive list of return due dates here. For more information on taxes check out the New Jersey Division of Taxation’s COVID-19 webpage.

Financial Planning

As financial uncertainty created by COVID-19 (the coronavirus) continues to grow, the Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) has recruited members to provide free, no-strings-attached financial guidance to Americans who don’t typically have access to financial planning services. Underserved individuals and families that need free, no-strings-attached financial guidance can visit the FPA website to see a list of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional members of FPA who are making themselves available to help.

If you are worried about being able to make monthly bill payments, there are several resources available. The Consumer Protection Financial Bureau has put this together resources that may be able to help.

Obtaining a refund for a cancelled event due to Coronavirus may not be the first thing concerning people during this current crisis. But if you are holding tickets for an event that was cancelled, here’s some valuable information.

As the social distancing drags on, more events are being cancelled and ticket outlets like Ticketmaster and StubHub are coming under fire. Read this New York Times article for information on refunds.

Broadway
Broadway and Off-Broadway shows have been shut down until Sunday, June 7th, but that date could be extended.

Generally tickets purchased through a box office (with a credit card), Telecharge, TKTS or TDF will automatically be refunded to your credit card. Otherwise patrons should contact their point of purchase for a refund.
