Frequently Asked Questions
If you can’t find an answer to your question below, you may email us or contact a staff member.
Do you offer free legal advice?
No. The New Jersey State Bar Foundation is a non-profit organization that offers FREE law-related education to the public and educators. We have no attorneys on staff. We do provide several publications on specific areas of law on our Publications page.
Can you recommend an attorney?
No. The Foundation does not offer referral services. On the New Jersey State Bar Association website (click HERE and scroll down to and click on the “For The Public” tab) there is a “Find an Attorney” link. You may also be able to obtain a referral from your county bar association.
Can I report a problem with my attorney to you?
I’m looking for a particular attorney who I worked with before but can’t locate. Can you help me?

If a training is full when I try to register, is there a wait list?
Yes. If you find that a workshop is closed when registering, you can join a “wait list” (a link is provided from the workshop registration page. You may also CLICK HERE to be added to a wait list. Please include your name, school district, desired workshop, date of the workshop and your email address. If space opens up, we will let you know.
If I can’t attend a training, can I send someone else in my place?
No. As general rule, each attendee must register so that PD Credits can be issued. Our policy is first come, first serve. If you cancel your registration by emailing us, we contact the next person on the wait list.
However, we will try to accommodate changes where we can, space permitting. Please email us at jtaube@NJSBF.org to request a change in registration for an upcoming workshop (please note the name and date of the workshop for which you are registered).
