2018 1st Place Winner: “New Orleans Street Band”

The New Jersey State Bar Foundation invites lawyers, judges, paralegals, law professors and students, as well as other law-related professionals to submit as many as three images of artwork to its EIGHTH ANNUAL JURIED ART SHOW.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, July 19, 2019, with the announcement of accepted entries set for Friday, August 23rd.

The month-long show will kick off with an Opening Reception to be held in the Visitor’s Lounge at the New Jersey Law Center on Thursday, September 26, 2019. All are welcome to join with the artists to view their exceptional work, which may includes watercolors, sculpture, photography, mixed media, pen and ink and others. Many of the works are for sale and some artists offer to donate the proceeds to the Bar Foundation.

Prior to the reception, the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education will present its Sixth Annual Art Law Symposium to be held at the New Jersey Law Center on September 26 from 3 to 6 p.m. Titled Raiders of the Lost Art: The Hunt for Nazi Looted Art in America, Abraham Lincoln, and Adolph Hitler, attorneys can earn up to 3.3 hours of CLE credit. Attendees will hear from renowned art law expert Raymond J. Dowd, Esq. and learn the history behind the proposal of returning stolen property to Holocaust victims, which is based on ideals first presented by President Abraham Lincoln advocating taking the profit out of war.
