The New Jersey State Bar Foundation announces the 2023 – 2024 Peer Mediation Mini-Grant Program for educators of grades K through 12.  To promote law-related initiatives in schools, the New Jersey State Bar Foundation will award mini-grants of $500 to ten schools per fiscal year. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis from December to June of 2024. Any New Jersey public, private or charter school may apply.

Procedure for Mini-Grant Application

Applications must include the following:

  • A fully completed electronic application with electronic signature of the applicant.
  • A commitment to provide the Foundation with an end of year program expense report.
  • If the applicant is not the principal, a follow up confirmation email from the principal that they approve the application. Emails can be sent to jtaube@njsbf.org

Please note:

  • The application deadline is June 1st, 2024, with applications accepted on a rolling basis.
  • Only schools that have received or sent representatives to the Foundation's Peer Mediation training may apply.
  • Mini-Grant funds will be distributed to winning recipients within 2 months of application approval.
  • Funds should be spent by December 31st, 2024
  • The funding received from this mini-grant can be used for the following:
    • Training supplies, materials, or photocopies
    • Awards, giveaways, or stipends for students
    • Refreshments
  • Schools that have been granted the award in past years may apply, but priority will be given to schools that have not yet received the award.
  • Applications will be reviewed by a team and recipients will be selected based on a variety of factors including leadership buy-in, need, diversity among recipients in regard to location and student demographics, and prior success implementing a peer mediation program.
  • Any school awarded a mini-grant becomes a “model school” and must allow other schools to observe their program.

Mini-Grant awarded per school: $500

• Should we be awarded the mini-grant, our school will become a “model school” and other schools are welcome to observe our program.
• My school will provide the Foundation with a program expense report by January 31 of 2025.
• Once your application is submitted we will reach out to your Principal and cc you to confirm they are aware of and approve the application. Please advise them to expect our email.
